The Joys of Friendship di Alla T. Ford
I do not care for the work of Alla Ford. Nearly every one of her miniature publications reflect shoddy workmanship and are classic examples of how NOT to do it. Now even after 30-40 years of being pressed flat, most of her book covers are still warpped and misshapen. I like the content, just not the form it takes. [nkk/83, direct]
"1000 [changed in MS to 500] signed copies, of which 25 have hand-printed covers." My copy does not have a hand-printed cover. In fact, the cover is badly warped and the workmanship is very poor. Contains statements of her personal beliefs about God and life.
Gold stamping on the back cover reads" ALLA T. FORD, the author of The Musical Fantasies of L.Frank Baum is a well-known authority on old children's books, particularly those of Baum and W.W. Danilow (sp.?). As a rare book dealer, she has developed the uncanny sixth sense for ferreting out forgotten treasures in the most unlikely places, and has found many unique items for libraries and book collectors in the U.S. and abroad. (She offers an extensive Search Service for any book on any subject in any language.) Mrs. Ford has always been a loyal Baum fan, and her two daughters follow in her footsteps. She resides in Florida. DOUG MARTIN, her illustrator and co-author is a Chicago cartoonist who has long been a Baum enthusiast.
