I bought this long ago. I enjoyed the performance of the Christmas Oratorio. However, Britten's A Ceremony of Carols being performed in German rather than Middle English was a major letdown.

Would I recommend it now? There are other, good performances of Saint-Saens's work. If you were looking for Britten's A Ceremony of Carols, I certainly would not suggest this. With half of the CD being rather annoying, I can only give it three stars and suggest that a different choice be made. Still if you are buying it for Christmas Oratorio, then you could well enjoy it and skip the last half. Therefore I will give it three stars.… (altro)
