I was looking forward to reading this book after learning about it from some fashion magazine, but I unfortunately I have to agree with the other negative review on here. (I'm surprised there's only 1 so far!) I too am unsure what the other reviewers are raving about...

Here is the synopsis of the book:

- Throw out or donate a lot of your clothes
- Make a list of every clothing item you owe (who has time for this?!)
- Go out and buy yourself a whole bunch of new clothes
- Build your own shelves to organize your closet (I, for one, cannot build my own shelves)

The book re-hashes a lot of old/stale advice such as throwing out clothes you have not worn in a year, not using wire hangers, folding sweaters, not keeping your clothes in plastic from dry cleaners, etc. There are a few useful sections, such as advice on packing for a trip, and instructions on selling old clothes on Ebay (although nowadays it's almost impossible to sell clothes on Ebay unless they're designer duds for a deep discount price), but overall, this book was a waste of my time.

A former Style.com editor and fashion PR consultant, Melanie Charlton Fascitelli founded the closet design company, Closette, in 2002. Here is that website. The company has been featured in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Vogue, Harper's Bazaar, Real Simple, and Marie Claire. She currently lives in New York City. Melanie has also covered European and American fashion shows as well as parties and celebrities for style.com, and has served as director of public relations at Anne Klein. Melanie continues to grow Clos-ette through an upcoming line of customizable cabinetry, another book deal, other media deals and several multi-national development and retail deals for her product lines.

I may have done a little happy dance when the book arrived, because god knows I need all the help I can get in organizing my closets!!!! Fascitelli opens the book with some good solid advice, including specific instructions for "editing" your closet, tossing what you don't wear, buying the right size, and not to be persuaded by sale prices, and avoiding fasion trends. She advocates ruthless dismantling, which I agree wholeheartedly with. Of course, I had already DONE that, but okay! We're on the same wave length, clearly. She goes on to lay out the basics of the stylish wardrobe, and again, this is useful; that little black dress, the menswear shirt, the cashmere sweater-all good pieces, and worth having in your closet.

This is most definitely a useful book which tells us how to utilize our closet space. Most of us are horders. First we should let go of clothes that we have not worn in over two years. Then organize all the clothes into piles, one for throwing away, giving away and one for keeping. Her tips are very practical and useful. Different typpes of clothes and shoes of course need different types of storage space. And you are provided tips to accomplish this too. She also tells us to clean everything, which will make them last longer and eliminate any bug problem. There is also a chapter devoted to storage of Meds,CD's & other kinick Knacks too. I especially liked her tips on packing for a trip. She also explains how to create closet space when a significant other moves in.

I liked the advice. I am a pack rat. Now I am going to reduce my wardrobe and keep only those clothing items that I need.
