Habits are an important part of everyday life; they can lead to great achievement or complete failure. To achieve success, it is necessary to develop the habits that will help you get there. Huge, immediate changes are not necessary; small, incremental changes each day can have a similar effect.

Setting personal, or professional, goals, is good, and to be commended, but it is not the whole story. What happens when you reach that goal? Do you revert back to the bad behavior that got you into this situation? Consider starting by making a list of all of your habits, good and bad (for instance, Doing 20 push ups each day = Good - Eating Junk Food = Bad). Try melding a Need habit together with a Want habit ("After I make 3 sales calls, I will go online and check out the sports scores on ESPN."). Do it enough times, and your mind will consider them as one habit. Keep a visual record of your progress, like putting an X on a calendar for every day you work out at the local gym.

It is easy to work when you are motivated. It is much harder to work when motivation has vanished. It's best when a person is working in a field of strength, that aligns with their natural abilities.

This is an excellent summary of this book. It is very easy to read, and contains only the important part of each chapter. The original book feels like it is well worth reading, but this summary is very much worth reading.
