Tineke Van der Eecken

neke Van der Eecken's book tells her story as a young woman traveling to Africa to work for the United Nations and how she set out to make a difference with a restaurant: Cafe d'Afrique where the local cuisine, dances and music will be celebrated. She is in for a hard ride. Cafe d'Afrique is a story of struggles, success, and self-discovery, punctuated with colourful characters and lively descriptions of Africa. The author lived and worked in Burundi and in Zambia from 1992 till 2000, shortly before she moved to Australia. Born in Belgium where she studied Criminological Sciences, Tineke Van der Eecken's interest in people made her travel the world and work for numerous social causes. In Australia, she has worked in community arts, investigative journalism, and as an artisan silversmith. Tineke Van der Eecken now works for the Lung Institute of Western Australia.… (altro)
