K. K. Downing

Downing's book reminds me a lot of the Bruce Dickinson biography. Both seem to take the passion out of music that inspires deep passion from its fan based. Sure there are tales of debauchery and craziness but nothing of the level of a Rolling Stones, or Motley Crue. The tome reads almost like a review of a stock portfolio.

I do give credit to Downing for the manner in which he discusses the sexual orientation of singer Rob Halford. It's obvious that the boys in Priest had a very open mindset, and were supportive of their mate, at a time when open mindedness and support were often in short supply.

Downing is also open with his views on band mates, other bands of the time, and life in general. Comes across as a genuinely likable bloke.

Books a solid read, but don't look for it to reignite your desire to listen Priest's music. It could have used a little more passion.… (altro)
