Richard Bartholomew has a thorough and well-written review of this in goodreads. I will add emphasis to a few things: the book is largely a record of the development of his business; there are occasional humanizing anecdotes but he doesn't do them well. There is much about meetings, other people's houses, and lunches; there are numerous glowing encomiums about his professional acquaintances, understandable since many of them were still living in 1935, and he's very conscious of his reputation. The chapter on "Exotics" is very disturbing in its vitriolic condemnation of homosexuals, suggesting they be isolated in a colony or at least institutionalized to prevent contamination of the general population. Given his religious grounding such bigotry isn't surprising; but it is entirely out of place in the book.… (altro)
