If you answered yes to my question, then you won't go wrong with this book. It starts off interesting and never seems to have a dull moment. The plot revolves around the lives of people living in an apartment complex. There is the happily married couple (Alisha and Craig), the stripper/whore (Peaches), the school teacher (Ladona), and the common-law couple with 3 children (Jewel and Romello). Naturally, like most apartment complexes, the tenants have the tendency to create their own drama. Alisha is ready to start a family while Craig doesn't want to discuss it. Ladona is after Craig while Romello chases Peaches who is determined to make her money by bringing her work clients home for some "private" dances.

As if that is not enough drama, in moves a new tenant, Lucky. A handsome, single man with no job, fancy car, expensive clothing, etc. He is quick to notify everyone that he is a kept man - his "baby" takes good care of him. Although no one has met this girlfriend, Lucky manages to sleep his way through all the women in the apartment complex - even sparking some jealous rages.

The author does an excellent job of character development - the reader gets to know the desires of each character and often understands how each character arrived at their individual decisions. Just when you think you know where the story is heading, the author throws in a couple of curve balls. While the book does not have the typical Hollywood (happily ever after) ending, I truly enjoyed the realistic ending. Although I will admit that I found the identity of the Lucky's girlfriend a little hard to swallow and not very believable. But the other 95% of the book more than made up for this minor deficiency.
