A monograph that attempts to illuminate levels of late medieval grain production by examining extant tithe receipts for the North-East of England, most specifically Durham County. The introduction briefly examines how medieval tithes have been used (or ignored) by historians since the early 20th century, and considers the possibilities and pitfalls historians will face using tithes as a source.
