Zapkode | 11 altre recensioni | Jun 1, 2024 | So, this is a cute kids' book with some funny illustrations showing why you shouldn't dangle participles, but let's be honest...adults should probably read it too.
(Thanks to NetGalley for making this available to me!)

Alishadt | 11 altre recensioni | Feb 25, 2023 | Don't Dangle Your Participle is a much more entertaining way to teach kids about dangling participles than textbooks or worksheets. Each incorrect sentence is illustrated in such a humorous way that kids will immediately notice what's wrong in the sentence, and then the correct version of the sentence is also illustrated.
My one complaint is that Oelschlager seemed to be trying too hard to fit both the incorrect and the correct sentences to certain formats, which resulted in only one type of dangling participle sentence being illustrated. The attempt to keep all the sentences consistent also meant that some of the "correct" sentences sounded more awkward than necessary -- for most of the incorrect sentences, there are multiple ways they could be corrected, and the ones shown in the book are not always the most natural-sounding.

fernandie | 11 altre recensioni | Sep 15, 2022 | Don't Dangle Your Participle is a picture book that uses humorous illustrations to explain participles and why you shouldn't dangle them. While younger kids might be amused with the examples, I think older elementary students would gain the most value out of reading this book.
The book showcases eight examples: first the wrong way, then the next page we see the correct way to use a participle. Perhaps students could play around with the sentences and rewrite them, or come up with their own wacky sentences to edit.
I had my 10-year-old son take a look, and he thought the illustrations were well done. The examples made sense to him.
Would recommend for classrooms and school libraries.
Thanks to NetGalley and Vanita Books for providing me with a free digital review copy.… (altro)

This is a good book for any teacher/ homeschooling mom or library. I think that any child could benefit from learning the proper use of a participle. This book helps to make writing make a little more sense to children that may otherwise struggle with it.… (altro)
