memoirist - Breve biografia
- Sophie de Choiseul-Gouffier, née de Tisenhaus, was born in Lithuania to an aristocratic family, a daughter of Count Ignatius Tisenhaus and his wife Marija Pšedzieckaitė. She served as a lady-in-waiting to the Empress Elisabeth Alexeievna of Russia, wife of Emperor Alexander I. She married Antoine Louis Octave, comte de Choiseul-Gouffier, a French nobleman and diplomat in the service of the Emperor Napoleon, and became a French citizen. Her personal reminiscences and letters were edited and published posthumously in Paris as Memoires historiques sur l’empereur Alexandre et la cour de Russie publies par Mme la comtesse de Choiseul-Gouffier (1829). This work was later translated into English by Mary Berenice Patterson as Historical Memoirs of Emperor Alexander I and the Court of Russia (1904).
