This short book outlines the context, the characters on whom the text is most probably based, and the real-life incidents which he could have drawn on for the story. If you're looking for insights into how DH Lawrence created his plots, Sydney in the 1920s, or "The Kangaroo", this is probably worth a dip. Otherwise, there are much better works around covering the same sort of area.
