A tale of two halves. First 50%, 1 star. The second, 4 stars.

Five years ago, when this was first published, the language used, in the first half in particular, wouldn't have seemed so cliched. The pace was slow and I didn't feel anything for the characters. But when Annabelle meets the pack things start to change. And then something devastating happens and Anna's emotions reached out and grabbed my throat, squeezing until my eyes watered. The only thing I didn't like about that part: when Kieran and Annabelle reunite they don't talk about the miscarriage or address the effect it's had on them and how they'll proceed with their future.

As for Ryland, I suspect the author's going to do a Kleypas and turn our wannabe rapist into a hero. It takes immense talent to accomplish that and considering his behaviour throughout Shewolf I'm not confident his change in character would successfully win me over and convince me he's a good guy deep down.

** Review written for an originally posted on my blog, Book Bliss.I received a copy of this book in exchange for an unbiased and hones review**

Review: 5 stars

General: Original, hot and entrancing may not be enough to describe this novel. I’ve always loved Teresa’s work but this one is fantastic. From the beginning to the end the world created is 100% original and refreshing. A new set of paranormals and even a universe to get lost in.

This book mixes aliens, mythology, magic and hot steamy romance in a way that left me page turning. The plot was wonderfully thought out and the chemistry between Ramose and Tamara was electric and evident from their very first encounter. Even the evil in this book had me routing for it at some points because it was just to entertaining and enthralling to pass over and just write it off as the bad thing the hero’s kill.

Characters: Tamara- Tamara is a powerful female. Coming from a long line of power she harnesses power and likewise to me, had the spirit of a raging fire. She had spunk and gave as good as she got- although for me she wasn’t as strong of a characters as Ramose.

Ramose- Ramose was an amazing character. He was intelligent, strong, a protector and burdened with saving his race and figuring out what to do with and at times it seemed about, his soulmate.

How exciting to find another erotica author to watch! Occasionally an author who likes my reviews (go figure!) will ask me to read and review their book. This is always a dicey proposition and I tell them that I don't do 'feel good/ego stroke' reviews. I tell the truth. The option I DO give is that if I really don't like the book, I'll send the review to them via email and only post it on my blogsite and on the site where they found my reviews (in other words, I won't put it up on Amazon or Powell's etc). So when I find a new author I can crow about, it's like manna from heaven for me! Teresa D'Amario is my new author to crow about! I just finished "Tigress By the Tail" for the 2nd time and still loved it. It's got hot sex, an interesting plot, hot sex, interesting characters, hot sex, shifters, hot sex, gorgeous brother 'cops', and the promise of more to come in the same world! Did I mention the sex was hot?

Cassie wakes up groggy and confused. Where is she and how the hell did she get here? Her day really doesn't improve when she learns she and her friend were drugged, kidnapped, and are intended to be 'virgin' sacrifices for devil worshipers! Then she blows her escape attempt and her 'cover' when she shifts to save a human! A very handsome human, yes, but still...a human?! And she can't seem to stop herself from wanting to be near this stranger...what's going on and will she be able to save him when the shifter community finds out who and what he is?

Lance can't believe his luck. His brothers finally let him work a case on his own and now he's going to have to reveal his powers to save two women from the Satanists! And what's up with the gorgeous chick with the weird hair who he could swear is talking IN HIS HEAD!

Let me repeat. This novella has it all. A really interesting plot line with well-developed paranormal elements, action that blasts off from page one, smart characters with real dilemmas (no TSTL moments), a mystery that's intriguing and SHOULD DEFINITELY CONTINUE (do you hear me Teresa?), and some really, really delicious brothers who definitely need to find their women (Teresa?). If you miss this one, you'll be sorry. I'm gonna bug the author for the next story set in this world.
