This was definitely an interesting and slightly different vampire story. While it has all the "usual" ingredients - vampires, slayers, humans as potential victims - the angle of looking at the relationship between a human and a slayer was new to me. You'd assume that the human and the slayer get along (the enemy of my enemy is my friend, and all that), but what Pat shows us in this story is that "it ain't necessarily so". I liked that surprise.

Jeremy is a human who was raised by vampires. That alone isn't unusual enough - he was also not considered "food", which is the norm (in this story). He therefore loves vampires and the thought of belonging to one again scares him as much as it is tempting.

Wallace is a vampire (with a twist, but I can't talk about the details without giving awway a huge spoiler). He doesn't understand why Jeremy loves vampires so much and can't accept that Jeremy's former family was truly different.

This difference of opinion, lack of acceptance of the other's viewpoint and Wallace's past almost tear the two lovers apart. For them to avoid that fate they both have to work hard - rethinking their preconceptions as well as dealing with their pasts. This psychological aspect was really the core of the story and made it truly fascinating. This is definitley not your "average" m/m vampire romance!

This was an interesting story about a fight between an angel and a demon. The humor was great, but the focus on trying to impress the female was a little to heavy for me. I would have liked to have seen more of the m/m relationship.
