An unusual mystery -- the actress playing the lead in a London West End play is shot dead on stage, and the case is investigated by what would now be called a member of the First People, that is the Native people of Canada, in this case, the son of a chief of the Delaware tribe --I had not known there were Delawares in Canada, but brief research confirmed there actually are some in Ontario. According to a quasi-fictional introduction to the book, the Delaware lost many of their young men serving in World War I with the Canadian forces in France; the detective was 17 at the time and did not actually fight, though he had joined the army.… (altro)
