Brief poems, obviously inspired by Haiku, expressing the power of the artist and the artist impulse.

50 Haiku by five Japanese poets compiled in a very simple little volume; my favorites:

Basho:
born of a dream
what can we know
of the real

somehow still not dead
tho the journey’s at its end
autumn darkening

Taigi:
the first flush of love
up against a stone lantern
a face and a face

Issa:
to go from one hot
tub to soak in another
so much silliness

Shiki:
the boat and the shore
conversing all day long in
terms of the water
