I love this book! As the white mother to Black daughters, I haven't had the benefit of a mother who taught me to style Black hair and a grandmother who taught her. This book is a nice introduction to beginning some common styles, and also to the basics of good Black hair care. It isn't specifically written for white moms of Black kids, though. Anyone who wants to learn more about how to style African American hair types would find it a handy reference.
