Want to be thoroughly creeped out? This is the book for you! I quite enjoyed these stories. Coleman has a way of writing that leaves you guessing and intrigues for what could possibly come next. Her characters are all different, leaving no carry over from one story to the next - which I really enjoyed. this would be a perfect book for spooky season and a spooky book club. Highly recommend.

A collection of rural British grimdark stories, mainly set in the Midlands. Not normally my cup of tea, I prefer more upbeat stories. These range from dark fantasy to horror, and generally are downbeat. I preferred the stories that were based in rural folklore to the more overtly horrorific stories. All were well written. Recommended but be warned some of the stories are a bit on the gory side.

This had so much potential to be a great ghost story, but it was too rushed with not enough atmosphere.

A slow builder of a dark tale set in England during WW2 with the language and mannerisms extremely accurate (from what I would guess). Well written and gets suitably creepy towards the end.
