- Breve biografia
- Lady Anne Clifford was a wealthy heiress and Baroness Clifford in her own right, although she had to fight a lawsuit for years for her inheritance. At the English court, she was part of the close circles of Queen Elizabeth I and then King James I. She married first Richard Sackville, 3rd Earl of Dorset, with whom she had five children; and then Philip Herbert, 4th Earl of Pembroke and 1st Earl Montgomery. Her letters and diary provide insight into the lives of 17th-century women of her class. See the famous van Dyck painting of Lady Anne and the Pembroke clan.
