Unique high quality anthology

I have never read an anthology like this one before. Entertaining, hilarious, serious, stories, poems, interviews, informational, and a young author section.

I didn’t realize northern Minnesota had a twin in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. Pasties, mining, a Devil’s water-rock formation, deer on the road, another Grand Marais, Lake Superior, bays, forest, remote roads, cabins, lakes, canoes, kayaks, hunting, fishing, shipwrecks, ghost stories, trying to get to Duluth, and imagination galore are woven in these stories and poems.

I bought this as an ebook, and now a paperback as well. Laughter and tears!

Everything a reader wants from Yooper Stories

Very fun reading as the excitement of being in the area is shared in this anthology. Each story or poem is excellent. Lake Superior cold water and danger is part of several stories, one of which is seriously sad. There are fiction, nonfiction, horror, and humor pieces. I felt like I was in my Grandma’s kitchen when reading about learning to make pasties — my Grandma always said hands were the best mixers. The story about the Yooper Loop traffic is hysterical and so well written. The poetry is beautiful. A young teacher tells of difficulties in our educational system, and I agree. The young writers had me on the edge of my seat, oh, my. I really enjoyed this entire book!

Wow

Exciting story - with drama and action on and near Lake Superior — boats, sailors, a storm, and a rich cargo.

Beautiful, deep thoughts, insightful writing, wonderful stories and poems. If you have experienced any northern travel, campgrounds, or visits to the shores of Lake Superior, this book will tug at your heart and memories. I remembered the summer wild flowers when I read, “I always knew when I’d arrived at the family cabin in Eagle River by the scent.” A variety of stories — full of feelings and emotions.

“Weather near Lake Superior is famously extreme and can change drastically without warning.” Have you experienced sudden dangerous changes in weather? This story is about winter. But you may have read in a local paper about boats capsizing or crashing on the rocky shoreline. Such accidents happen all too often in remote areas. This anthology will bring back memories of forests, lakes, flowers, and adventures. Highly recommend!

imaginative, humorous, historical, poetic, or out of this world stories

Successful authors share stories of fishing with no exaggeration required, lives of young children were played outside making their own adventures, funny aliens who think humans will dissolve in swimming pools, beautiful poems, outsmarting fraternity guys, and tall tales the readers will long remember. Another fine collection from talented writers in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

A variety of entertaining, thoughtful, and fun stories

I read this when I was in recovery from surgery and could only do things for a short time. It is perfect for times you might be having short breaks or are in a waiting room. Boats in storms on Lake Superior, helping get firewood, dealing with old fashioned stoves, amazing events, and youth award winning writing pieces. Memorable! Highly recommend!
