- Ion Ciobanu was born November 6, 1927, in the village of buday today Telenesti district, in a peasant family. He graduated from the pedagogical school in Orhei, and then, in 1959, at the Higher literary courses of the writers Union of the USSR. Then, in 1947 he became a member of the Communist party of the Soviet Union Communist party, and in 1951 he graduated from Central high school Comosomol in Moscow. He worked at the school, the publisher, and then headed the Union of writers of the MSSR: 1961-1965 Chairman and Secretary of the management Committee, 1971-1989. He was also Chairman of the Republican Committee for the State prize in literature and art since 1973, and later received the title of peoples writer MSSR 1984.
