This book was interesting in a Philosophy 101 sort of way. The first part of the book was kore about the author laying out a framework for what the book might contain rather than the author's arguments. It seemed a bit disjointed. I agree with other reviewers that the book needed more references than it contained to support its claims after the initial arguments were laid out. Over all, it was an interesting bit of philosophical thought but none of the contents really challenged me or made me want to change my opinions.… (altro)

I’ve come a long way since I published my first two Christian books on January 11, 2020, which inspired me to become the Christian blogger I am today, from being a nonreligious Christian woman to one who daily enjoys sharing the words of the Lord with others.

In my former days, I looked at my being a Christian woman as a give and take, in other words, as a transaction as in the title for this book. My obedience to the Lord showed apparent benefits by following what He tells all Christians to do through the Scriptures that we read in the Bible.

My overall impression of reading this book as the Christian woman I am today made me do some inner reflection regarding my relationship with the Lord. Mr. Chen succeeded in his intention for this book due to this inner reflection. And by doing this, the author has fulfilled the intended purpose for the question he asks at the end of his description for the book:

“The goal of the book is not to answer the age-old question of whether religion is true. Instead, the goal is to help readers answer the question that really matters: Is God worth the effort?”

In the end, my personal answer to this question is a resounding, YES !!!

For having his readers, and me do an inner reflection of how the Lord gets perceived in their lives, I’ve given Mr. Chen 5 STARS for his endeavor here.

I received a KINDLE copy of this book from the author through a giveaway he had on LibraryThing, and the above has been my honest opinion.

This is an interesting book; t’s definitely thought-provoking. The first part of the book presents itself as a conversation-starter, but by chapter 3 it is more instructive and contained fewer references than I would have liked. The science chapters also made a lot of broad/definitive statements about what other people believe (without referencing sources). Personally, I would have liked to know the author’s personal position from the start of the book (or in the description) as that would have provided some more context while reading it.

I received an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
