Spoiler free review. This middle grade novella is excellent and has a great pace. I really enjoyed the writing style and highly recommend this dramatic allegory to those who like Goosebumps and Fear Street. The story left me wanting more from this author and I look forward to reading his next book. I predict Cameron Chaney will only get better with time.

I started this fall with Autumncrow. This compilation of short stories really stood out to me. Not only for the endearingly cute cover art, but I really loved the idea that all of these stories take place in one spooky town.
I'm not the biggest fan of short stories in general, and usually only read them at Halloween. One thing that I don't like about them is that, inevitably, there will be at least a few, often times more, that I just don't care for. I'm left feeling like I read an entire book, but only enjoyed half or less. Autumncrow is truly an exception, I enjoyed every single story inside. It would be a totally acceptable older child read as well, there's nothing too raunchy or over the top.
I highly recommend this for anyone looking to Kickstart the season and get into the Halloween spirit :)… (altro)
