Ok, this has the age gap thing I am no fan of, but that isn't reason for the low rating. I did enjoy the traumatized heroine aspect of the book, and all the angsty misunderstanding stuff, but Zach is just too much of an asshole. He sexually assaults her. He even acknowledges that what he is doing is without her consent and wrong and awful, but he does it anyways. Generally, I like a book where the hero has to grovel, but this was just too problematic for me. I worry about the messages women get about what love is! Not to mention what we teach men is acceptable behavior.

3-1/2 stars. A cute little romance. It was a bit different in that the heroine was a young virgin and it was important to her to stay that way. She believed that sex was only for marriage. And the hero was an ass but I liked him regardless. He was pretty bad about trying to get her in bed anyway. So normal realistic guy stuff. One of the parts I enjoyed the most is that she was fairly aware of how jerklike he was being and just went along with him as you do sometimes with men. Sort of he can think all he wants that he is winning this male/female thing but since I'm getting what I want I'll not call him on his bulls**t. He did have a crisis of conscience about how he had manipulated her and kept her from having any other options but to stay with him and eventually marry him. So I forgave him his asshatery.

All that being said, there wasn't a whole lot of conflict or tension involved here so if you're looking for that this might not be the book for you. It was however well written. It flowed nicely and was well paced. Good use of language and fine sense of place with just the right amount of description to paint a picture. Not an erotic story although there were some fairly hot love scenes after they get married. No glaring ebook formatting errors.

I'd be happy to try another book by this author.

Thanks Marisa for loaning it to me.

Super short it took me maybe a half and hour to read if that. It had great potential but was so short that it couldn't really be developed at all.

Well that hero was definitely uber alpha. Having been warned going in I was able just to enjoy the total over the topness of him. Of course dealing with a guy like this in real life might be scary but he was fun to read about. I like the whole primal jealousy thing. Thanks Melissa for the loan.

Lovely story if you're in the mood for a totally possessive alpha male. This one wasn't quite as fun as some of her others but I really enjoyed it. Well written and the story moved right along.

Another fun one from Ms. Chance. The beginning was a bit uncomfortable with the way he treated her when they first go to bed together. But soon it moved to him having more feelings for her and not really knowing what to do about it. Lovely alpha possessiveness though. The heroine, though young, did pretty much stand up for herself within the scope of the mistress agreement.

I continue to love this author. This one was a bit different since it's a new adult title. That genre is not typically my favorite but this one was nice. It took place over about six years. The hero had the hots for her and chased her off and on for years. But because he didn't know she was a rape survivor he was at a disadvantage because he couldn't understand why she wouldn't go out with him even though he could tell she liked him. He did some really sweet things and some pretty shitty things o to get her attention over the years. Loved the angst. The hero wasn't quite so crazy assed stalkerish as LC's heroes usually are but that worked well in this genre.

A nice read but I still perfer the adult stuff.

Some times short stories blow you away and sometimes they don't. This one didn't. I generally love this author and her OTT jealous heroes. This one though just didn't do it for me. It lacked tension and conflict. I mean the potential was there to have something happen concerning the other man that wanted her, some kidnapping or something that the hero had to rescue her from but no. The major conflict if you want to call it that was that the hero thought she was too young to marry and that he couldn't provide for her as well as the other man could. First of all 17 wasn't considered too young to marry back then especially in the West. Secondly his worry that he couldn't provide for her made him much to beta of a hero for this author.

Yikes! This hero went beyond alpha possessive straight to crazy stalker. Like I told my sister, it's great good fun in fiction but in real life I'd be running for my life. Hero is intensely possessive and jealous of anyone getting near this girl who he has decided is the one for him. He sees her in a coffee shop and totally ignores that she doesn't want to get involved with him. Loved it.

You really ought to read [b:Pursuit|19253221|Pursuit|Lynda Chance|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1394726169s/19253221.jpg|27299439] before you read this one since it is the actual novel where these two characters meet and you really need to know about them to appreciate this story. Plus if you don't like mega controlling stalkerific heroes then this one, in fact this author, is not for you. Otherwise it was a fun little vignette.

Fun little read for LC fans. Not as OTT as some of this author's stuff.

The only real problem with this story was that it was too short. I really wish LC would write full length novels. I loved the whole thing. I'm fond of the mistaken age trope and add in an OTT jealous possessive hero and I'm in my happy land. Just a wonderful hero and some cute situations. I even bought into the whole reason she kept her age secret since he was so aggressive and she was so inexperienced that she knew she couldn't handle him if he knew she wasn't a teenager so he had some breaks on.

Please Ms. Chance write longer books!!

I enjoyed this book. It was a little uneven in places. Josh swung from charming teenage boy to OTT possessive in a not quite realistic manner at times.

Fun read from this author who specializes in OTT stalkerific males. I did think he might have been just a little more OTT about keeping tabs on her while she was gone to college.

You either love LC's stalkerific heroes or you don't. I do. This one wasn't my favorite but I enjoyed it. I think the character of the heroine didn't gell wel for me. I liked her okay she just seemed a little too strong to put up with such an OTT hero.

Weird. I think the hero could have been even more stalkerific? His motivations were weak and it made him weak really. I think the heroine should have fought harder against his kidnapping. She was pretty accepting. Not that that is invalid just that her actions didn't always seem to fit her thoughts as written. I felt the ending left a little to be desired on the part of her brothers's instant acceptance of him.

If you like Lynda Chance you'll like this one. I enjoyed this outing. Sort of a prequel since it goes back in time and tells the story of Hannah's parents. Plenty of the stuff we're used to from this author. Possessive jealousy. Same old disclaimer as always: Fun in fiction not in real life.

3-1/2 stars. Nice story from LC. I like her OTT men. I dropped the rating just a bit because he could have been even more over the top. Actually, I think he would have been if the author had just written more scenes where there was the potential to have him super jealous. Another thing that didn't quite pan out for me was the hero kept saying that he wanted to control her and dominate her and etc., but he really just wanted her to use her safe word sparingly and wanted to do her doggie style. Hmmm. Still when he was showing his insane possessiveness and such the story was good. I like this author for that reason so I think she should just run with that and let those heroes be as OTT as possible.

Somehow the whole jealous alpha male thing didn't work so well in this historical by LC. Part of the fun of the super jealous hero is seeing him react to other men near the heroine. Here there just wasn't enough to carry that. Plus the physical relationship didn't ring true. The hero's motivations weren't solid enough for me.

I don’t really know how to rate this. It says YA/NA and the characters are teens but it read like an erotica almost. Very descriptive, more sex scenes then I thought were necessary. And Josh was like obsessively controlling and domineering... which in an erotica where a reader is going in expecting an alpha/sub type relationship it’s fine, I guess (not my cup of tea) it was just a little off putting with a 15 year old H

My review:

I enjoy the writing style of Ms Chance. She reminds me a lot of Kristen Ashley and Jordan Silver, but maybe her men are not as forceful. It was a good book and I loved the characters.
