While not a "children's book," this is an excellent educators' tool. Your kids aren't going to pick this book up and read it (at least most won't), but a teacher or parent will gain a wealth of easily pass-on-able knowledge. The concept of probability is difficult to explain (and grasp), but this book makes that job easy with experiments and easy-to-understand language. Recommended for anyone trying to getvthisbinformation into the heads of children.

Aimed at math educators for 4-6th grades. The reading is extensive in content and demonstrates how students are asked to examine a request for information and then problem solve to provide an answer to the initial query. I found this not very applicable to my goals of finding instruction for a homeschooling parent and thus would not recommend it for the homeschooling environment.

When I requested this book I must have misread because I thought it was for ages 4-6 not GRADES 4-6. A big difference. We will hold onto this book for a couple more years before it will be useful to our kindergarten goddaughter. But it looks like a great resource and I like the arrangement of each chapter and the problems being real world examples.

This book was written to give teacher's problems that can thoroughly teach probability concepts through a real-world way. I like that the problems are given in a narrative way and require students to apply their reading strategies. The explanation of the problems are very thorough with multiple descriptions of how students are anticipated to respond. There is a clear connection to CCSS. I think this book is useful for teachers who want to include investigative and real-world problems in their teaching of probability.… (altro)
