This is a quick read, but not always an easy one. The writing is sharp, funny and readable, but the stories being told are often grim and sometimes upsetting. Having a child of a similar age to the author I'm not sure if I was reading in awe or horror at the things she had to go through to put food on the table or get a roof over their head.
