Neurosis by Anthony Carinhas is a riveting story about the great love affair between Christian Wall, a lawyer, and Gregory Collins, a high school student. They first meet while shopping and Gregory, being the more assertive one, asks for Christian’s number. A love story is the simplistic description of this book’s interior. It is so much more than that. It is also the story between the different views of the world Gregory has in rebellion against the conservative views of his parents’ Josh and Myrtle. It is the story of brotherly love and acceptance that exists between Gregory and Nathan. And, finally it is the story of a very aware young man trying to find his place in this confusing world and the clash of Gregory’s heart and desires between two very different cultures. When the last page is read, how the relationship between Christian and Gregory ends will leave the reader changed forever.

Anthony Carinhas’ Neurosis is a quintessential same sex story that is very relevant to today. Carinhas bravely shows us that we still have not bridged all the gaps of equality. And like all the souls we co-exist with on this planet, everyone will not accept us. They will not even understand us. Tragically, they will not even try to accept or understand us even if they are our biological family. Their fear of an America changing imprisons them in their rigid views of what is right and wrong. The story of Christian and Gregory in Neurosis is one every teen should read and many parents to hear that being gay doesn't make you anything else but gay. Love, hurt, fun, desire, success, business, relationships, friends, and family should all be orientation excluded. Buy the book! It is easy to read, but the effects will last for the rest of your life.
