Was annoyed by main character, had some plot holes but still found the whole thing compelling enough to read through in one sitting.

Another book for Blaire's World, and another interesting female character.

Sera has been trained to be a killer and a spy by brutal methods. But when her boss sends her on a particular mission, things go badly.

I was really fascinated by the fact that this is all in Sera's POV. It gave the book a really organic feel, especially when it came to Galeno.

(This review can be found on my blog The (Mis)Adventures of a Twenty-Something Year Old Girl).

I read the blurb to this book, and I was instantly hooked! A spooky ghost story involving ghost hunters? Yes, please! Luckily, I wasn't disappointed by this book.

Kaylyn and her sister Cole both work for a company called Aicil as paranormal investigators. When Kaylyn gets the opportunity to investigate the creepy and old Teague Hotel, she jumps at the chance. However, bad things start happening to Kaylyn. She's being attacked by an unseen force, having blackouts as well as very strange dreams. Kaylyn can't understand whys he's being trageted specifically, but with her job, as well as her life on the line, she'd better figure it out...and quickly.

I love the cover of Fractured Legacy! It has a really creepy look to go with the rest of the book. I think the cover suits the book well, and with a cover like that, you know the contents will be creepy as well.

The world building was definitely believable. I felt like I was Kaylyn, and it was a book about me. That's how great of a job the author did. I was feeling scared right along Kaylyn and feeling frustrated when she did. I also loved the setting. A creepy hotel is one of my top places for spookiness.

The pacing did start out a bit slow, and I was wondering if I had made a mistake in agreeing to review this. Then, I felt as if the pacing just zoomed, and I was left wondering what had happened. Thankfully, after the first few chapters, the pacing settles down, and I couldn't read this story fast enough. It's definitely a page turner!

The plot was fantastic! Creepy stories with bad entities in them have been done a lot, but Skye Callahan turns that classic plot into her own. There are also a few plot twists which I didn't predict until a few chapters before they are revealed. As for the ending, it's not a big cliff hanger, but since this is going to be a series, it is left open for another book (which I can't wait to read). Oh, and there isn't much romance in this book. In fact, I can't think of any, but I'm not a big romance fan so I enjoyed that this story focused solely on what was going on with Kaylyn.

I loved Kaylyn. There were times I just wanted to hug her because I liked her that much. She endures a lot and often times feels like she is going insane. However, she's a very strong character and bounces back. I also like Jonah. At first, I found him to be a bit arrogant, but my heart melted towards him, and I found myself thinking what a kind and caring man he was. I was hoping he and Kaylyn would get together throughout the book because they seemed so great together. I did like Cole, but there's not a lot of her after the first few chapters. She does seem like a very caring sister though.

I enjoyed the dialogue and found that it flowed smoothly. It goes back and forth between Kaylyn's point of view and Jonah's. There are a few grammatical mistakes but nothing major. There are a few swear words, but nothing over the top.

Overall, Fractured Legacy is a creepy read that will leave you wanting more...and wanting to leave the lights on! It has a fantastic plot, a creepy setting, and well rounded characters.

I'd recommend this book to those age 17 who truly want to read something spooky!

(I received a free ecopy of this book from the author in exchange for a fair and honest review).

This was my second time reading this. Now it makes sense as to why it seemed so familiar (I had read it when I was taking 20 credits years ago). There were still parts that I really liked and others I didn't. Certain times the author went into great depth to explain a situation while others it felt really glossed over. Still, it was a great book with a great storyline.

4.5 stars

One of the best from this series. I loved the characters and wanted to know more about them. There were a lot of questions that were posed and most were answered. I would love to know more about the secondary characters in this as well.

I am new to the genre so though the story had potential I found it chopped. It was difficult to follow as the background was sparse, the scenes didn't flow rather they jumped.

This is a wonderful read and I am blessed to have gotten an Advanced Review Copy of the e-book.

Skye Callahan has an amazing ability to keep me wanting to read more. I found as I got to the end of each chapter, I felt like I just HAD to know what happened next. I read this in a single day, over several sittings. While at work.

As for the book, it gets right into the story by quickly introducing us to two of the major players, Kaylyn and her sister Cole. They work for a unique investigative agency that is well known in their town, even if most do not know what exactly it is they do.

I identified quickly with Kaylyn, as she and I share the trait of hating to leave the bed. Especially in the early morning. Like....before noon! She is also very blunt at times, and can curse quite eloquently when the situation demands. (There isn't too much language in this book)

The book takes an interesting spin on the paranormal. This installment in the series has a spooky component that is just strong enough to keep you reading. It could have been scarier, but this is Ms. Callahan's first published novel. I look forward to reading the next installment in the series to see how she grows in her writing.

Over all, I would recommend this book to any paranormal fan. The characters are well written and compelling, as is the story.

Two sisters, Kaylyn and Cole, work for a secret, but yet not-so-secret, paranormal investigation firm known as Aicil. After returning to the office from a case gone wrong, they find that their boss/mentor has been let go and that one of the sisters is on probation. They have one case to prove their worth. Investigate paranormal claims at the historic Teague Hotel.

I wasn’t very impressed with this one. The overall story was engaging enough, but the characters were less than one-dimensional and the dialogue was just bad. There was very little development of any of the characters and I couldn’t tell if this book was supposed to be targeting the young adult paranormal demographic or something else. It was a quick read, but I would recommend spending that time elsewhere.½

Not especially bad, but neither is it very good. We’re provided with what sounds like an interesting scenario about two sisters working for a company doing investigations of the supernatural. Of course no one, friends or family, can know what they’re really doing. The story mostly follows the older sister, Kaylyn who is seriously stressed from lack of sleep and nightmares she’s having which she doesn’t want to share with anyone.

It’s difficult to know whether Kaylyn’s personality is always so disagreeable—how much of it is stress related—but it seems likely from other things said. I certainly had a hard time feeling empathy for her even with the stuff she was dealing with, but that’s partly because we really aren’t given a reason to like her.

The scenarios are interesting, although we’re provided a somewhat chopping-flowing story. Some things are still not clear after finishing the book. The author also needs some help with editing, character building and pulling the reader into the story to feel the tension and emotions of the characters.½

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review

Now I love my dark reads and this book didn't disappoint.

A book about trying to survive and overcome every obstacle that is thrown at you.
The characters we easily likeable and also believable.
A well written read and I cannot wait to read book 2.

I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.

This book is in James point of view and is more of a flashback scenario.

A continuation from book one, we find out the answers to all our questions in this book. I feel that it was nice to have a book like this and I really enjoyed this read.

Its best though to read book one first, as you will not understand this read.
A well written book and I will be looking at more of this authors books.
