An anecdotal allegory of life in Los Angeles. Narrator Ben Grenaro has to drive from the city to his grandparents' house in Pasadena, and uses the people and places he sees en route to describe what it is to be a native Los Angelean.

This is an entertaining account of American life, including driving on the freeways and the Californian institution that is Tommy's. Visiting a place can never compare to living there, and this is a vicarious treat - the sunshine and smog (and fast food) are almost tangible in Bwarie's descriptions.… (altro)
