A collection of short stories featuring the strangest collection of oddballs you hope to meet. Pops leads his family through many adventures spanning nearly two centuries; he has opinions on most things, and what he doesn't, someone in the family or their accompanying neighbors, friends, or other hangers on surely does. Well worth a look; a quick read, and each section is short enough you can stop at a spot to go to sleep without having to worry about being in the middle of something.

This book traces Baby Lisa's life year by year, in most years selecting one day or a few days to represent what is happening in Baby Lisa's life. She makes friends with Leonard the Awful Cat, and enjoys sitting on the porch after school with her friend Tracy. She interacts with an odd assortment of friends and acquaintances, with a mother who doesn't seem to like much about the world and always expects the worst.

Left to his own devices, Tennyson would just continue to drift, unable to break out of his rut and make any life-changing decisions, but Tennyson is not left to his own devices. A series of oddball spirit guides lead him toward his future, helping him see the possibilities that could lie ahead, depending on what choices he makes now.… (altro)

A thorough review of the life and career of pitcher Carl Hubbell, famed for his screwball. The focus of the book is particuarly on the moment in the All Star Game when Hubbell conscutively struck out 5 of the best hitters, including Babe Ruth. A treasure trove of information and statistics.
