A well-known children's author and well-known illustrator team up to tell and illustrate the story of Little Penguin's education in manners and politeness taught to him by Raccoon with the help of an ostrich, cat, and skunk. It's a cute book. The illustrations are mostly black and white with a few of the older type of color illustrations thrown in. The artwork is very reminiscent of the illustrator's style in the Curious George books.½

This is a classic bedtime story, but the thing I love most about it is the last page where the fire is crackling and the lights in the house are glowing. It makes me sleepy just thinking about it.

The book was really good. They did really good telling the story the way the color was described. By looking at the book you can tell what it is about without reading it. They include a lot of black and white and red, blue and green. Which I feel like it makes the rest of the things stand out.

Margaret Wise Brown writes about a bunny saying goodnight to various objects and creatures before drifting off to sleep. Brown did this because she believed that children would like to see realistic objects and understand things of the real world. This idea came from a dream and I believe that this book is very creative in the sense that it doesn't lose the fictional characters or setting but the objects are real and easy for young children to understand.

This is such a classic story that I never get tired of reading it. From the one line sentences to the great visuals and pictures, the author does a great job at putting little one’s to sleep and it will never cease to not be a classic.

Classic childrens book about a bunny who says good night to various objects in their room before they go to sleep. It is repetative and soothing and I remember reading this book as a child. The photos are colorful and cartoony.

Classic book about saying goodnight to different things (mom doesn't totally get why this is a classic), but Mx loved this book as a toddler and Ms liked it well enough.

By Margaret Wise Brown, but it isn't super boring like Goodnight Moon (sorry, not sorry). I like you get a little science thrown into this book that shows an island moving through the different seasons, and all the living things to come to visit it.

What makes me smile about Margaret Wise Brown's The Little Island is more than the memory of being 6 years old, reading with my grandmother on the beach. It's Weisgard's drifting watercolor clouds and big blue cat's eyes, the softly-illustrated naturalist drama of being "a part of the world and a world of one's own." I love the sweetness of its frame, the gentle assurance that the world will go on despite storms. Seasons pass, the landscape shifts, nights and days melt into each other, and still the island sits, alone and connected. While the story's brief commentary on the value of blind belief may not translate well to our information age, there is pleasure and comfort in its reminder to keep our lives in perspective. The illustrations of the Maine coast lend Brown's story a softness and a splendor befitting its grand romanticism.

This is a cute book, and well illustrated. It is prose, but has a lyrical , almost poetic, quality .
