I was interested to review this site as I was just at a comic book store this weekend searching for something to get my young son started on comics/graphic novels. I wish I had come here first. A fantastic site with a review panel made up of librarians from all over North America, it includes something for everyone. It is neatly arranged by broad age range (Kid, Teen, Adult) and then by category like Action/Adventure, Historical Fiction, and Romance, to name a few. The review themselves are very informative, pointing out the good and the not-so-good as well as pinpointing what type of child might like the book. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to put kids and graphic novels together. I found a ton of stuff on here that I want! Other great resources here include a beginner guide to comics and why we should read them, as well as news and links to comics workshops.

This review blog focuses on graphic novels and comics and tries to show the range of the medium including and beyond superhero comics, hence the name. New reviews are added several times a week, and most of them are written by librarians (a few are written by teens). They cover graphic novels, comics, and manga across many genres and for all age groups. The reviews cover everything from plot to writing to art, all of which are crucial to the success of a graphic novel.
The layout of the blog is quite helpful. The top navigation bar has resources about reading graphic novels or how to use them in a library or educational setting, and the bar under that organizes the reviews. The books reviewed are sorted by graphic novel versus manga as well as by kid, teen, or adult audience. From there, the reviews are divided by genre. It would be great for trying to do reader’s advisory for a graphic novel. Librarians who are unfamiliar with comics and graphic novels could also use the blog as a place to get informed of what is hot in the medium and what they might want for their collection.… (altro)

This site is a selection of reiews of graphic novels and includes a main site for teens, a site for junior readers called "Sidekicks" and a site for older teens called "The Lair". Divided into genre categories, several contributors review graphic novels in each category and it is helpful to have the sites in three levels. It is easy to navigate and appealing in design. Unfortunately this site has not been kept up to date since 2005, so it is a good resource for earlier graphic novels, but for something more updated, you might want to check out their blog.… (altro)
