This is an interesting and appealing book, not just in the content, but in the progressive learning techniques which are designed to encourage children to not just learn to read the words, but to understand the meaning behind them. When a child's comprehension increases, their whole world moves forward. Here, children are also taught to think about how they would react if they were the character in the story, talk about what surprised them about the story, and create an alternate ending. The stories are short, just a paragraph (or two), and you'll find titles like these: "New Shoes"; "Moving Away"; "Carter's New Team"; "Earth's Biggest Animal"; :All About Caves"; "Working Dogs"; "How Crayons Are Made"; and so many more. Each story includes a connected learning activity on the same page, and each page is labeled with the skill development related to completing the story and activity. In order to keep little learners stimulated and motivated, lessons increase in difficulty as the book progresses.
