What a difference time makes. I acquired Invade Rinse Repeat by Jim Braly as a Library Thing member’s giveaway back in September of 2013. I confess that it fell from my cell phone’s Kindle app sometime shortly afterwards and I only re-discovered the file this past summer. Thank goodness that was the case! Had I read it back in 2013, I expect I may have dismissed it as political satire gone overboard, but in light of recent political events in the United States, Invade Rinse Repeat has in fact proved to be frighteningly prophetic.

In rather eerie detail, Braly tells a ‘story’ of how an ultra-Conservative is elected after Obama, and the rest of the story, although a head shaker when he wrote it, does not seem so far-fetched at all now.
If you love politics, you seriously need to read this book. Always keep in mind, it was written before any of the current events could be imagined by anyone, and I mean ANYONE!

In this review, I won’t risk giving any of the plot away, other than to say that the characters in the book are all the names you recognize and love/hate from American politics.
I’m surprised CNN has not grabbed this author and asked him about the book. Or, perhaps they have and I missed it.

Jim Braly, three years ago I would have accused you of having an over-active imagination. Now, if you read this, send me a quick email with next week’s lottery numbers :).

The book follows life in the White House from the George W Bush era into a post Obama presidency.
It is thought provoking, amusing and frightening all at the same time. The author describes the book as “an editorial cartoon drawn with words” That description is one of the most accurate way I have heard a book described in a long time.

I enjoyed the book and have already recommended it to others. As a Canadian, I am sure that I have a different take on the book because I don't have an affiliation with either political party.
I received this book for free in exchange for this honest review.

This book is well researched and well written. It is best described as a political satire with comical overtones and dark undertones. The author displays an excellent grasp of American Foreign policy. I really enjoyed reading this through provoking book which I saw as an intelligent individuals parody of the Bush and Reagan Administrations. A big thank you to the Author for giving me the well formatted mobi version via the library thing website member giveaways. I would highly recommend this unique book as a worthwhile and memorable read.… (altro)

This political satire kept me in stitches from the first to last page. This book was entertaining to a wide audience. It is very entertaining for someone who knows these politicians and have followed the news over the past decade or so. It is also entertaining to someone who knows nothing of these characters, because the plot is so absurd that you laugh at each characters plight. I loved this book! It is what I would classify an adult book.
