This is a pretty good thriller/mystery with a touch of the supernatural added.
A successful defence attorney for a large firm in Manhattan, Engaged to a founding attorney’s daughter and set to become the next partner in the prestigious firm, Neil Brewster has it all.
Then an unexpected invitation to a childhood summer camp reunion turns his life upside-down!
He is haunted by a kid he went to school with that committed suicide. A kid that he had bullied.
He sets out to find answers and comes across much more than he ever thought!
The story is told in present time, and in snippets the past, and the two storylines come together in a way you’ll not expect or soon forget!

I received a free copy of this novel for my honest review. Brian Wilder thought it was another mundane day at work. Reporting on the move of the old Chandler house, a rather boring story to his photographer Jessica, Rimdale Commercial bought the property and were also to move the house to a vacant spot. Somehow Brian was determined to make it interesting and informative to his readers. As the hydraulic jacks began lifting the house, the foundation began crumbling. The machines were stopped, as they looked into the debris the saw a skull looking back at them. Fearing the cops won’t do a thorough investigation, overcoming demons in the process, Brian Wilder investigates the murder on his own. Although short this was a great suspense novel; I enjoyed the background information as I read along. I felt really bad for Brian, seeing how he dealt with his past tragedy. It was sad at times, but a book you just cannot put down.… (altro)

In her time as a detective, Samantha Ballard has never encountered anything as strange as the series of murders that have just occurred in Philadelphia. How a person can go from very much alive to dead and looking like an ancient mummy is completely beyond her comprehension. But it's happening, and it's her job to find out how, why, and who is responsible. As more bodies are discovered, local radio DJ Jack Allyn becomes involved after a friend is one of the hapless victims. An unlikely pair, Samantha and Jack end up working together in their search for answers, only to learn that what their up against is far more dangerous and powerful than they ever could have imagined.

If urban fantasy with strong ties to mythology is your thing (and I will be honest, it's definitely one of mine), you will very likely find this to be an enjoyable and gripping read. It has that element of authenticity that I think is incredibly important in science fiction and fantasy writing (just because it's fictional doesn't mean it shouldn't still be believable in context), and there is a realness and complexity to the characters--especially Samantha and Jack--that shines through in the writing. The story is paced well, with a couple of lulls that seem to work for the overall plot. And in many ways, I see this as a very likely scenario of how law enforcement in an urban setting might very well deal with an ancient and mythological force suddenly showing up in town and doing its thing.

Definitely worth a read!

Jealousy, love triangles, high-profile politicians, reporters, and murder. All of this put together made for a short, but excellent murder mystery.

You will be kept guessing up until the very last pages who murdered Mary Fleming twenty-two years ago when her body ended up in the basement of a house being moved off of its foundation. Brian, a reporter for the Newark Observer had covered stories in wars and political conventions, and was known for his thoroughness. And...boy was he thorough...he was the one who solved the murder of Mary Fleming that the police hadn't been able to solve.

I read this book in one afternoon. It was fast-paced, interesting, creative, and intriguing. Great characters, great storyline, outstanding descriptions of scenes, feelings, and characters. You could feel the drama as you turned each page. This is a mystery writer I will keep an eye on. ENJOY!! 5/5

This book was given to me free of charge for participation in a blog tour in return for an honest review
