While the author at times got under my skin by giving less credit to the settlers for their struggles this is still an amazing compilation of historical details! My family hails from this area, indeed many of my ancestors are part of this book's stories and facts, and I feel a deep connection to this place that has only been strengthened by spending time with this book. I want to retrace their steps and keep their stories alive, and this book has helped with that vision. It's an amazing resource for working on the family tree as well.
