Within a framework of comprehensive source readings, development of religious thought is followed from the Biblical period to the present.

Brief introductory sketches and historical essays fill in the background forçach selection. A simple time-line graph is also given as a guide illustrating the major events which have
shaped our tradition.

Only primary sources have been used The reader will have the opportunity to read sizable portions from the works of such thinkers as: Thomas Aquinas, Martin Luther, John Calvin, and Theodor Herzl as well as portions of the Dead Sea Scrolls.
