Idjhil : and the land cried for its lost soul /… di Helen Bell
An awkwardly written account of an Aboriginal child's forced separation from his parents. The same situation as in The Burnt Stick (but set in the Swan Valley region of WA) this attempts to be poetical but fails. Nevertheless some idea is given of the traditional lifestyle of the Nyungars and how they had to adapt to cope with the incursions of the white settlers. [Magpies]
