I often stop to see what books are on display at the art section of the library. Last time it was this collection of essays about an exhibit of items made of crystal. I picked it up, and my immediate (spoken) reaction was 'heavy'. The librarian looked up and commented that it was good I had my walker to transport it with. I guess my reaction is still 'heavy'.
On the positive side, the essays are quite varied, and most were quite interesting. The editors probably encouraged the contributors to reduce repetition, although certain things did keep coming up. The quality of the pictures varied. I'm guessing that mostly pictures were used that already existed, and some did not do a good job of showing the objects to best advantage.
Oh, the objects! Many of them are just unbelievably beautiful. I have to admit to really coveting the ancient lizard sculpture. The others I would happily admire in pictures if I can't see them in museums. Just that lizard...… (altro)
