As a society, many of us, unfortunately, suffer from a multitude of mental conditions, mental conditions that sap the sufferers from being the individual they would like to be. These conditions include anxiety, fears/phobias, panic attacks, etc.

Most individuals are under the misconception that they’re alone in their sufferings; the truth is they’re not. The comforting thing is that this can be shown to them when we read 1 PETER 5:9 [NKJV] the following:

“Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.”

The author of this book, Henry Bechthold, once again has used his knowledge of scripture to show/teach his readers that Lord, the Great Physician has the informational guide that will help them overcome their sufferings of anxiety and fears so they can construct a biblical fortification for themselves.
A fortification designed to resist the on-going assaults against their state of mind, a fortification that will assist the individual to regain a sense of peace and confidence to their well-being that their liberation from the grasps of their affliction so they’re healing can begin.

If there should be a Doubting Thomas that is reading this, and doubts the Great Physician is capable of accomplishing this they need to read what is written in JOHN 5:6-8 [NKJV]:

[6] When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”
[7] The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”
[8] Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.”

For wanting to assist his readers in dealing with their oppressive mental conditions, this reviewer of nonfiction Christian books is happy to give Mr. Bechthold the 5 STARS he’s gotten from me.

Depression is one of those things which who suffer from it would rather keep it under wraps. They can become so adept at hiding it that everyone will think the person who is suffering from it has their whole life under control, thereby keeping their false façade in contact.

There are far too many books written by clinicians that attempt to instruct suffering individuals as to how to handle it. However, they don’t fill the needs of all the Christians suffering from it and who desire some direction some guidance from the Great Physician, the Lord himself. The author of this book, Henry Bechthold, is not only a spiritual leader in his community, but he is also, has he reveals through the pages of the book, one who has suffered from it himself. I believe this can be described in 1 PETER 5:9 [NKJV] which reads:

“Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world.”

Being the kind of individual, he is, Mr. Bechthold is able to reveal to his readers the spiritual advice from the Great Physician, our Lord which can found within the myriad of scriptures from the Bible. Who else but the Great Physician knows the Bible’s divine biblical tactics and spiritual fighting which can be used by His believers to overcome any of their physical and mental sufferings.

The spiritual advice found within the pages does not solely come from the author’s extensive knowledge of the Bible, it comes from this plus his personal knowledge and experience of having walked in the shoes of someone who’s suffered from depression himself.

An example of the hopeful resolution of this suffering from depression I believe can be found in JOHN 5:6-8 [NKJV]:

[6] When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”
[7] The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”
[8] Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your bed and walk.”

For wanting to assist his readers in dealing with their depression, as a reviewer of Christian books, I find it impossible to give Mr. Bechtdhold anything else than the 5 STARS he has gotten from me.
