Winifred Barnum-Newman

I liked the poem, To Market, To Market, from the book, Children’s Favorite Poems and Songs. The main idea in the poem was a rhyming approach at telling a story about a man that went to market to buy a fat hog and a plum bun. I enjoyed looking at the illustrations. The pages were filled with colorfully drawn townspeople and animals. It shows children what a town market looks like. The language was “sing-song” and easy to follow. The story flow was familiar and many children may know the nursery rhyme before reading the book. There is a page at the end of the book that describes movement that could be done in conjunction with the rhyme.… (altro)
