I enjoyed this adaptation of Paul Bunyan. It's been years since I've read a story about the legendary Paul Bunyan and his Blue Ox Babe. I enjoyed the story when it tied historical facts with the tales of Paul Bunyan, such as how the Great Lakes came about and how his persistence in finding gold created the Great Plains we know today. Children would enjoy a folk tale to learn about historical facts because it's simply fun. The pictures and colors of the book were colorful and fun. There was texture in the illustrations as well, which I was able to appreciate.… (altro)

Pecos Bill was a great read. The big idea in this book was to talk about how Pecos Bill became a one of the greatest cowboy who ever lived. I liked the book because Pecos Bill was well developed. The author told every aspect of his life and how he became the greatest cowboy in such great detail. For example, Pecos Bill was raised by wolves and so he didn't know how to read and write until a man found him and brought him into town. From then on he learned to be a cowboy and became the best. The second reason I liked this book was because of the organization of the text. The illustrator put the text into boxes that had ropes as it's boarder. I think that this enhanced the text and gave it the cowboy feel.… (altro)

John Henry is a really strong man. As a child John was a slave. John is a black man and he as a child everyone thought that he was just a normal child. But he wasn't, he was a man who could always lift anything and no one would would attack him. One day when John was working in the mine he had a race against a machine and because he was so tiered he died.
