NCLA Review: All people have moments of doubt and questioning, and Michael Babcock has written a compelling book that helps the reader to understand that those moments are normal and necessary in strengthening one’s faith in God. He utilizes the faith stories of many Christians—famous and ordinary—as well as examples from his own faith journey to encourage others as they struggle with doubt, and guides them in the belief and acceptance of the gift of God. The book serves as a guide from the first part that concentrates on “Why We Doubt” to the final section on “How We Believe.” Each chapter in this profound but clearly written book begins with a key idea and ends with a brief summation and questions for further reflection.
