‘Picture of Grace’ written by Josh Armstrong and illustrated by Taylor Bills is a profound picture book that carries a wonderful message. This was a wonderful story. Grace loves her grandfather and visits him every week. He spends lots os time playing, talking and painting with Grace. When grandpa dies, he has left his last painting unfinished. This books deals with the loss of a loved one through the eyes of young Grace. A touching story with wonderful illustrations.

Often times, we don’t know what to say or do to help children grieve and move past the pain. Children can see through the teachings of this book, that it’s okay to grieve and cry when they lose someone they love, but in time, they will be able to move past the hurt and be happy again. Definitely a book that you can pass down from generation to generation

Young Reader Reaction: Our teen loved Grace. She was very close to her grandfather, and like Grace, could relate to her feelings of connecting with something they did together. She was most vocal, however, about Delilah - whom she said looks and acts like Cruella DeVille.

Adult Reader Reaction: My initial reaction was that this was a book for helping children with the loss of a loved one - in part based on my daughter's reaction. But when I read it a second time and listened more closely to Grandpa Walt, it became a more inspiring, thoughtful story. Quiet, but with a lot of power.

Pros: Readers of all ages can enjoy this gentle story of love, hope, and personal growth.

This is one of those picture books that brings out your emotions. Grace loves to visit her Grandpa Walt, who is a well known artist. She thinks because he is famous that everyone loves him. She doesn't understand that some people only love the money he can bring them. When he dies without finishing his last painting, Grace decides to finish it for him. This makes the gallery owner angry, but makes the family happy. You must read this book to find out why such a conflict and the importance of this one painting. This is an absolutely beautiful book, in words and illustrations.
