I wanted to like this a lot more than I did. It just sounded so good and the cover is gorgeous and I just didn't. It was boring. I couldn't connect to the characters or the plot. Guardian angels, hackers, kidnapping and abductions - it seemed like this was a couple of different stories all bundled into one and it didn't mesh right. The plot was too convoluted and lacked the world building needed to really give this story an edge.

Emily annoyed me. Her ideas on wealth were irritating. I thought the Robin Hood angle endearing when I read the blurb but the reality just left me grinding my teeth. I understood her attitude towards insurance technicalities. That made sense. That was justified. But it's ridiculous to think no one should earn or spend their money. Personal wealth is not a crime or wrong or selfish - it's smart to plan for your future. Helping others is all well and good but I don't think that means you shouldn't help yourself first and foremost. Selfish or not.

Nathan was just bland. Hot, sexy, kind, all the usual characteristics but there was nothing to distinguish him or make me care for him or about him. The romance between the two fell flat. It was all instalove which I can stand to read but I never particularly like. I liked the friendship with Ben and Susan but Esau was the most interesting character. And we see him for like two seconds. This just wasn't what I was expecting. I thought it would be a gritty urban fantasy with wicked humour and interesting world building and this just didn't make the cut.
