What I liked: The drawings are a perfect representation of Uppsala. Like, PERFECT. I recognise every street and building, and it's clear the illustrators have a lot of love for this city. It's also a great setting for this kind of supernatural mystery. The feeling basically oozes Lovecraft and it's wonderful. The illustrations are also wonderful and imaginative.

What I didn't like: The novel starts out great. What if lovecraftian horrors suddenly entered your life and your town and you were the only one to figure out the mystery? For a fantastical premise, it was grounded in the environment and simple plot elements. Around halfway it starts swinging around weird plots and stilted dialogue, thus taking away the stillness and creepiness out of it, turning it in to your regular fantasy-hero-gets-vague-power-to-save-the-world. That's not bad, I just wished they'd stuck with that vibe all through the novel, but different strokes I guess.… (altro)
