The Seder Rav Amram is the oldest order of extant Jewish prayers. It contains the text of the prayers for the entire year, as well as the laws and customs pertaining to the different prayers. Amram was gaon (leader) of the Jewish Talmud Academy of Sura during the 9th Century. His siddur, which took the form of a long responsum to the Jews of Spain, is still extant and was an important influence on most of the current rites in use among the Jews.
