Frances A. R. Allshouse

For over 17 years I lived in Fauquier County and visited the Old Jail many, many times. I heard some of the ghost stories while visiting and learned of more through this intriguing book. As a teacher, I read a few of them to my students who became very upset when I said, "We have to read our classroom book and put this away." The illustrator's sketches are so defined, they look like black and white photographs. If anyone visits Fauquier County, please visit this mysterious and historical place.
