Johanna Alberti

Alberti provides a survey of women's history from 1969-1999 in the form of several chronologically ordered essays, which map out core concepts and categorical frameworks underlying the methodolgies and works associated with each era covered. The introduction gives a useful brief run down of issues relating to historiography leading up to 1969 and sketches out the basic ideas in each chapter. Her conceptual analysis is sophisticated yet somewhat oblique--it's difficult to evaluate her many assertions without first hand knowledge of her reference points. There are solid footnotes throughout the work, which identify and document what she considers to be formative works/fundamental sources, making this a great starting point for further investigation.… (altro)
