The British steam railway locomotive, 1825-1925 di Ernest Leopold Ahrons

Produced (as a series of articles in 'The Engineer') to coincide with the 1925 Railway Centenary celebrations, Ahrons' work was magisterial and comprehensive then and remains so now. Ahrons was the person who (allegedly) timed the Great Western's 'City of Truro' at over 100 mph in 1904; he was not just a gifted amateur but he knew his subject in depth.
